Stroke
A Stroke is also known as a brain attack. Doctors call it a Cerebral Vascular Accident. A Stroke is similar to a heart attack only it happens in the brain. There are a couple different kinds of Strokes.
The first is called an Ischemic Stroke. Ischemia refers to a lack of oxygen resulting death of the brain tissue. The other is cause by a broken vessel in the brain causing blood to leak out in the brain cavity putting pressure on the brain.
Depending on the area of the brain affected the signs and symptoms will be varied...
Signs and Symptoms
- Slurred speech
- Headache
- Blurred vision
- Weakness or paralysis on one side of the body
- Difficulty speaking
- Droopy face on one side
A “mini-stroke” is a warning sign. You may experience some of the symptoms listed above and then they may go away after some time, this should not be ignored! Seek immediate medical attention!
